Dear Readers
Thank you for your interest in my work and enthusiasm to create with me. I am thrilled to be teaching more of my textile art classes again along with several other scheduled projects. The first six months of 2017 is proving to be a busy. The ‘Sit & Stitch @ The Studio schedule has been published and I have several engagements between now and June including interstate appointments and the Australian Quilt Convention and Expo (AQC) in April.
My new web site is soon to be launched where I will have a dedicated Events and Teaching schedule page aimed to inform you where I will teaching. Please see below a tentative outline of my teaching schedule to date. As the second half of the year progresses there will be confirmation of other courses on offer, so stay posted. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any queries (see contact details below). I also travel to teach by arrangement however numbers of participants determine confirmation. I am happy to discuss and negotiate workshop fees.
If you are booking in to any of my classes please refer to the Class requirements list below or contact me or the host venue for more details. Approx. 2-3 weeks prior to scheduled classes I send out an email so please make sure you have requested to put your name on my email register so that you receive up to date information about what to bring.
Once again many thanks for your wonderful feedback and ongoing support. I look forward to your company during 2017.
Much love and creativity
Cxx

CLASS REQUIREMENTS
‘Making Art With Textiles’ – Requirements
Finished Size – Variable – Personal choice
In this workshop you will produce pieces of textile art that can be variable in size and used/displayed in a variety of ways. For example if your work is smaller in size you may use them as a gift card/s or a mini canvas. If you choose to complete a larger piece of work it would be very suitable for framing. You can also apply your work to soft furnishings such as art quilts, pillows, chair covers etc. It is a versatile technique that also has a variety of applications in fashion such as bags and border designs on skirts
Materials – The beauty of making art with textiles is you often use what is available to you and do not to go and purchase extras. Re-purposing left over pieces of fabric, fibres (e.g. paper) and items you have in your basic sewing kit are adequate to produce a lovely piece of work. However there a some basic things you will need to bring to class. They are as follows;
- A range of embroidery threads – This may include regular sewing machine threads, DMC Cotton Perle, wool, linen, silk and even some string for added texture.
- Water soluble fabric glue
- Marking tools, tailors chalk, white pencil,/marker, fabric pencil, water soluble marker
- Fabric scissors
- General purpose scissors
- Fine point embroidery scissors
- Embroidery needles (of your choice)
- Short applique pins
- Sewing machine with a darning foot. (** Bring instructions manual and/or have good working knowledge of your machine
- Black cotton/polyester thread (or colour of choice)
Optional
- A favourite printed fabrics from your left overs basket (your choice of colour/s)
- Something special (an old piece of linen/fabric e.g. doilies, a handkerchief, tea towel, tablecloth, dress)
- Freezer paper approx. 10” x 10”
- Iron on fusible webbing approx.10” x 10”
