Gallery Directors Christine Lethlean and Chris O’Donnell opened the doors to the Red Door Gallery [on fraser] in August 2017. With a vision to promote regional talents, sell ‘one-of-a-kind’ artwork(s) and expand the retail experience in Clunes the gallery space is ideally located along the well preserved and much visited precinct of Fraser and Service Streets.
Originally located at no. 31 Fraser Street, the gallery is now located in a permanent venue in the former Clunes Garage. Set against the unique backdrop of the historic village of Clunes in the Central Goldfields of Victoria, this recently renovated industrial art space has retained the markings of the past. The large open roof area exposing the original wooden beams and the old garage floor gives the interior a ‘worked in’ feel. The newly renovated white walls allows a sense of spaciousness for large art works and installations to be displayed.
Artists, representing a diverse range of artistic creativity exhibit their featured works at the Red Door Gallery including established and emerging regional talent. Exhibitions rotate every 4 weeks, however a select range of additional works are exhibited for longer periods. The gallery also aims to offer an inspiring retail experience for residents and visitors to Clunes including quality and unique hand made items crafted by local and regional artisans.
Commencing in October 2018 the Red Door Gallery[on fraser] commenced seasonal workshops and classes including textile and fibre arts. Go to Workshops @thegallery for more information and updates.
