Christmas Fun

I have been having bit of fun preparing for Christmas and making some gifts to go under the tree. Following on from the ‘Ticking Hearts’ design I transferred the idea across using festive fabrics to make these Spiced Trivets. They have come up a treat and smell delicious and will hopefully make a nice addition to the Christmas table.

For those of you who may be wondering, a trivet is an object placed between a serving dish or bowl, and a dining table, usually to protect the table from heat damage. (The word trivet derives from the Latin word tripes meaning “tripod”.) and are usually used to hold the dish or pot above the table surface. A trivet can also be used to elevate pots from the coals of an open fire and these are usually made from metal.

These trivets can also be used as a fragrant item in a pantry, linen cupboard or tea towel drawer and they make kitchen linen smell yummy. Cxx

The quote “Under certain circumstances there are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea” by Henry James  is a beautiful saying to accompany this pic of some spiced fragrant coasters I have been making this weekend using some lovely fabric I purchased on a recent stop over in Dunedin NZ

Spiced Trivet

Here are a few of my fragrant spiced trivets that I regularly sell at the markets. A trivet is an object placed between a serving dish or bowl, and a dining table, usually to protect the table from heat damage. (The word trivet derives from the Latin word tripes meaning “tripod”) and is usually used to hold a dish or pot above the table surface. A trivet can also be used to elevate pots from the coals of an open fire and these are usually made from metal. I also suggest to customers that these fragrant trivets can also be used as an item in the pantry, linen or tea towel drawer or cupboard for the aroma. RRP $35 (AUD) plus postage
