Sometimes the loveliest and most unexpected things can happen in your day and yesterday was no exception. I arrived home after a long and busy day in Melbourne to find a little package had arrived in the mail from my sister Terri in WA. All complete in beautiful button wrap gift paper, I opened it up to find this lovely card congratulating me on the opening of the Margie and Bert Studio and these pinking shears that belonged to our dear Mum (Margie). Mum did not own a modern sewing machine and as children she sewed our clothes on her Singer treadle machine. Not having the luxury of a zig zag stitch or an overlocker she would trim her seams to have a neat edge with her pinking shears. In latter years she mainly used them for other crafts and paper cutting.

I had a tear in my eye and my heart melted just for the simple loveliness of the moment . . . .so thank you Terri for your thoughtfulness. Mum’s pinking shears will have pride of place along with my scissor collection in the studio. Cxx
